Jemez Mountain Outfitters

Jemez Mountain Outfitters was started by, and still run today by, Mark Jaramillo.  JMO offers trophy caliber Elk hunts in the 3 elk hunting units that comprise the Jemez Mountain Range.  New Mexico’s tag application process is unique in that no preference point system exists to date so, each year applicants have the same draw odds as others.  We recommend applying through Mark at JMO to not only make sure it is done correctly, but more importantly, increase your odds of drawing by entering the guide pool of tags.  JMO also offers landowner vouchers for sale each year after the state tag drawings are completed for those that may not have been lucky in the draw, but willing to spend a little extra to make their NM Elk hunt dreams come true.  Reach out to us at ABO Outfitters as we can help guide you with the options available!

Trophy Elk Hunts

Archery Hunts
Chasing these beautiful animals in the magical time of the bugle is why most hunters target the Archery Season.  NM Archery season for these units is the month of September divided in half with early season being the first two weeks and the late archery season being the latter two weeks.  Whether you prefer chasing those pre-rut bulls as they are first beginning to establish dominance, or rather hunt the peak rut action when those herd bulls are screaming, JMO will have the scouting to put you in the hot seat.  A lot of preseason scouting takes place both by boots/glass and also by utilizing trail cams on trails or wallows for the intention of making sure your camp is right in the action.

Muzzleloader Hunts
New Mexico has recently changed the rules to now only allowing iron sights on your muzzleloader (No Scopes!).  This creates what we are seeing as a decrease in Muzzleloader applicants, but in return, much high odds of drawing!  Couple that with the fact that the muzzleloader season is in early October when bulls are still in or coming down off of the peak bugle makes this opportunity not one to overlook!!

Rifle Hunts
Two rifle seasons opportunities exist in mid-Oct with two 5 days seasons available to choose or apply for.  JMO keep tabs on hangouts of those post-rut or bulls that out played the archery hunter so that you as a rifle hunter, have a true opportunity at a Trophy.
